Monaco Knight 2002 electrical problems
We have a 2002 Monaco Knight with 3 slides we bought it new...Anyway the gfi on the passenger side keeps popping. We have fixed a few chared wires under the inverter and check the inverter and all seemed to be fine for a few weeks after that, but I guess we missed something. Anyone else have any ideas?

The only way to troubleshoot that is with an ohm meter. The GFI is sensing a short betwen the wires or some ac appliance or device on the circuit that is shorted internally. Do you know what AC devices or appliances are on that circuit and are not working?

It could be the refer. The electric heater element in the refer can develop a fault to hot or ground. Either will cause a GFCI to trip. If possible, disconnect the refer. Shutting off the breaker will not prevent a GFCI trip if the fault is between the neutral & ground so you need to disconnect both the hot & neutral to test.
If it still trips, I'd look for worn wiring that lets moisture cause a fault.

Ok this may be a dumb question but this is what we did. We out and unplugged Refer and Ice Maker...pluged them back in and it has over a hour....we have now plugged in the tv and reciever about 15 minutes and still ok. could it have been moisture on the plug?

I agree with Jon in that you are first going to have to unplug the fridge and see if that fixes it or not. I am a little worried about you finding "charred" wires under the inverter. Do you know if those where 12 v DC wires from the inverter or 120 v AC wires? The other thing to check is if you have any outlets in that circuit that are on the outside of the MH because it is possible to get a little water in an outlet and cause that problem. It is very interesting that it is taking so long to trip the GFI breaker. that almost indicates that something is turning on like the heater in the fridge that Jon was talking about.

We think we found the problem X your fingers. Went outside took the cover off the refer compartment....unplugged and re plugged and so far so good 3 hours and counting. We have since started pluging things back in and it has not popped. We are thinking it must have been moisture. We are in So Ca. and it has been rainning.
The charred wires were fixed by a electrician and he checked the lines and said he as far as he can tell everything is fine, but thank you for your concerns.
Thanks you all for all your help, it did the trick......

Thats great. Glad it didn't cost you anything. I agree with all that rain in sunny California it probably caused it.
