more want to be questions

Wow this site covers a lot of topics and presents many more questions that I never considered.... I gone thru many posts back to index page 81, with over another 300 + index pages to look at. I'm not going thru all the posts, only those that pose questions or topics that I may need to learn about.

background, I'm a want to be RV'er, will sell the wood & concrete residence in the northeast, live full time in rv until we decide to start the next chapter. I'm apprehensive in many concerns, I have accumulated way too many toys & tools & prize possessions to fit in any rv. Since they are paid for, I'm reluctant to toss or sell because replacement cost would be higher... Yet I'm discovering that I may need to augment my collection in areas for a new life style... storage at rental storage means I'll have to return to this area.... buy cheap property & store there?

Okay, enuff about me, after reading a few posts concerning storage under the bed, etc. I have a couple 22 rifles, pellet guns (size of large pistol) bb guns, ammo etc. Will I have to worry about carrying across state lines, registering, declaring if stopped by police? Can I store them under the bed safely?

I have a small fireproof safe, do others carry one for cash & valuables. What do you do when getting vehicle serviced?

If I haul my toad in trailer that gives more space for tools, etc. Does it make it harder to find places to stay? Does any one have experience with soft side walled trailers? In my travels to the orient, many delivery trucks are soft walled, and access is very easy. I've noticed a few in the states, and think for a toad it might be practical application.

now on to more research, to generate more questions....

Yes a trailer makes it harder to stay in some places. Why worry about State lines and declaring firearms? That is your home and you are allowed to keep them there in every State. Hand guns, more likely magazines with over 10 rounds may be a problem in some States. Just don't give permission to search. If you are typical law abiding citizen they won't ask anyway. If they ask, say no! I'm recently retired 35 year LEO. I asked plenty of people if I could search their vehicle. Some said yes, some said no. I never took it personal although some might. The secret is to not come to the attention of law enf. to begin with. Happy camping.

I installed a mounted safe under the bed for this very purpose. On the off chance we get broken into while away or someone snoops around if it's in for service, I don't want them getting stolen. Some states have firearm storage laws and in the off chance you had to report a stolen gun, technically you *could* be charged with violating that law if it were not locked up properly. I mean, I suppose you could just claim they carried the whole safe away but for me having one of my guns out there in a criminal's hands would be the worst anyway so I try to minimize that chance.
