Most useful: Good Sam, Escapees, Passport America?

Always looking for good discounts and we're just starting our adventure, so already trying to save money where I can. There may be other "clubs" to join and feel free to add them to my above list, but my primary question is, 1) if you had to pick one, which one would it be?

a) Who offers the most discounts? What is the biggest "ripoff?"

b) Some seem to apply only at certain campgrounds, so for that purpose, which one has the best North American coverage?

c) Besides campgrounds, some to seem to offer exclusive apps, and or discounts at various places, so for that purpose which would be best?

For campground fees. Passport America is the best. Fifty percent discounts with some limitations. Overall, it depends where and when you stay as far overall which one is best.

No experience with Good Sam. I feel Passport America is so easy to recoup the costs of, that it's a no brainer. (Sure, in popular areas at peek times of the year, lots of limitations. But just a few nights out of the year, will usually pay for it in savings.)

Escapees is more then just a series of parks throughout the country. So being able to stay at their parks, or coop's, is not my primary reason for being a member. That being said, we will be spending a month in Washington at one of their coop's this year. Many of these coop's, have members who turn their spaces into the parks pool. Provides a savings for them, and also does provide a lower cost option for fellow Escapee members who want to stay a bit longer in a location.

So to me, Passports and Escapees are very complementary to each other, serving different needs.

$.02!
Best,
Smitty

GoodSam, 10% off every night of stay and generally no restrictions as to how many nights, site selection, day of week, season etc. that I've seen with other programs. Also GoodSam is accepted in many more RV parks than the others combined.

Is GS the one with never ending mailings?

Yes GS has never ending mailings but can pay for itself very quickly. Stopped a CW today and the discount was greater than the annual fee, plus they have an excellent selection.

It's really hard to give you an answer as to which one is best. What's best for me might not be for you. It depends on what kinds of parks you like and where you travel. Do you like to be near big attractions or cities or out in the boonies? Do you want to stick near interstates or venture on the secondary highways.

Our order used are:

- the national Senior Pass for public campgrounds

- Escapees

- Passport America

Exactly but also:

Walmart

BLM

Casinos

ELKs Lodges

Moose Lodges

FMCA

Rest areas

Last resort= Truck stops

No need for GS

I use Passport America and Good Sam in our travels. GS has a pretty good trip planning tool free for members which is really useful. Both pay for themselves each year many times over. Safe travels.

We belong to Escapees and FMCA for the member benefits. Escapees is our mail handler. Faultless.
Passport America for the discounting when in travel mode, one or two night stay. Well worth it.
Good Sam is where I betray my personal standards for the sake of a few bucks. I do not like the way Marcus Lemonis conducts business. I do not like the incessant solicitations. I will never have CW perform service on my coach. I tried the GS Roadside a few years ago, and they shamelessly weasled out of proper coverage. But...... About three times per year CW retail stores run some kind of big sale, and a GS membership can save you some serious dollars, easily eclipsing the cost of membership. I always feel guilty. A little.

We have Passport America and Good Sam. Agree with others in this thread that mentioned the Good Sam trip planner. It will also alert you to some low clearance issues to give you the ability to route around it if necessary.

Good Sam and KOA both have membership cards that give you 10% off Good Sam and KOAs respectively.
