Motorhome, and the impossible dream....

I have a dream coach... here it is....

under 30'r.. with walk around rear bed,,,

light weight..14,000lb

gross weight 35'000

rides smooth...from the factory

doors that open and close as they should..

rattle free..

close ratio transmission.. at least 6 speed ... but 10 would be a dream

power to pull anything I wanted ...and stay with traffic...

good fuel mileage...

no stickers or fool body paint...but gloss gel coat

22.5 tires

2 piece windshield.... you know the ones that are cheep to fix if you hit a bird or catch a rock...

cheep.... 100k is way more than enough to buy a coach...

bed room tv...

front hood with real hindges and latch that don't rattle

roof that will last the life of the coach

run on reg fuel.....quietly....

OK, I will bite. I will use your dream list as my check list with our current moho of 10 years:

Under 30'; Ours is just under 33', close "Check".

Walk around rear bed (full queen); "Check".

Light weight; Ours is rated at 22K, tows 5K, close "Check".

Rides smooth; We have most of the chassis goodies, "Check".

Doors that open and close as they should; "Check".

Rattle free; Ours is not too bad, this is impossible though.

10-speed tranny; Ours has the Allison tranny, not a bad way to go.

No stickers or full-body paint with gloss gel coat; After we remove the remaining stickers, easy "Check".

22.5 tires; "Check".

2-piece windshield; "Check".

Under $100K new; We paid just over that, so a close "Check".

Bedroom TV; "Check".

Front hood with real hinges and latch that does not rattle; "Check"

Roof that will last the life of the coach; Ours is a full fiberglass roof with your favorite gloss gel coat, "Check".

Runs on regular fuel, quietly; "Check".

So, I feel good about the moho we call our second home! Thanks for showing us we chose wisely over 10 years ago. "Check" please. . .

Thank you, sir! I am sure most of the fine folks on this site believe they have a great moho, too. I just wish National was still in business. . .

As long as your "walk-around bed" is a single, under 30' will probably be long enough. When we bought our rig 4 years ago, the shortest we could find with walk-around queen-size was a 32'. It was a Georgetown 325, used and 8 years old at the time. We sold it last December.

It didn't have the "lifetime roof" (it was a rubber one). It didn't get great gas mileage either (about 8 mpg) but it had plenty of power (V-10) and a conventional Ford overdrive 4-speed automatic. I quit stick-shifting in the 1970's and have no plans to ever do it again! Even the transit coaches I drove for a couple of years were automatics. It also had 19.5" wheels - a good thing because the tires are cheaper than 22.5s.
