I have a Garmin 465T that I use. I find it easy to use. As everyone else has already mentioned it's not perfect but it does keep you on the main roads and away from low bridges. Our rig is about 60 ft long with the toad and we haven't had a problem yet! That being said it did send me in circles once after I missed a very confusing exit! I still keep a map just to check where it is sending me. That's one problem with GPS's that I don't like. It's hard to see where it is sending you sometimes even when you zoom out!

Microsoft streets and trips has been the best. We run it on our laptop. Works very well

I picked up the Rand McNally 5510 yesterday, set a trip route I knew. It made 3 mistakes within the first mile. I had problems with the dim screen. I also felt there was too much infor displayed on the screen that was hard to reqad. However, the data base is great----POI, truck stops, campgrounds. I am sad to have returned it today! Now I will try the Garmin 465T to see what it does

I have been using the Garmin 1450LMT for six months with mixed results. Most of the time it does a good job, but occasionally comes up with goofy routes that are needlessly complicated. By this I mean it sometimes picks a route with unneeded twists and turns, when a simpler route is available. It also does a poor job of recalculating, seemingly bound and determined on returning you to the original route instead of making timely adjustments. That said, it does have many features that we do like, such as a graphical depiction of turn lanes highlighting the one(s) you should use. It also does a nice job when you want to add stops on the fly (i.e. Interstate rest stops, fuel stops, etc). Despite our love/hate relationship, I wouldn't be without it.

Also the road less travelled has no rest areas, truck stops or any amenities for rigs of our size. Went up from 43' truck and fifth length to 58' "A" and toad and have noticed a huge diference , even on roads we've driven before. Not that I intend to be stuck on the interstate, just very careful of the roads I drive. Maps for now, plan the day's travel the night before and hope the co-pilot is up to the task.

Remember the Kim family ? They had a story about them on TV and how they wanted to get to Gold Beach Or. They were in a SUV and turned off the main highway (winter time) onto an old logging road. (gps) well to make a long story short they couldnt get turned around and were stranded for 5 weeks the husband went for help got lost and died (froze to death) the mother was able to feed her 9 yr old and baby breast milk to survive. They ate snow for water. Finally were rescued by a helicopter that had been searching for them for days (tracked their cell phone calls somehow) Well a couple yrs ago my wife and I were traveling to Gold Beach from Co. Class C 22 ft moho. and our Garmin gps took us down the same logging road (summertime) we were able to get turned around and got back out on the main highway. Mind you there is no (I mean NO) other traffic of anykind on this boulder strewn road it is scary and we never trusted our gps again. Verify by Rand McNally map or Mapquest before making any turn out in the middle of nowhere. Your gps can get you in some very serious trouble if you trust it completely..

I have the Rand McNally RVND 5510 and love it. 2 trips to date with and no errors. You do need to take a few minutes to program you RV specifics length, height, etc.. The database is awesome. The 5" screen is easily viewed. Not that it's a reason to buy it but so far it has been extremely accurate in warning me of speed limit changes and when I pass the new speed limit sign the displayed speed limit changes. Like say not a reason to buy but I do think it goes to show the accuracy of detail in the database. Warns of construction, steep grades, etc...
I feel it was well worth the purchase price.
I saw somewhere there was a rumor of a 7" screen version coming out.
I used Microsoft Streets and Trips for years but with the last 2 versions I have been unable to adjust the speeds in it to match my driving speed. Also don't like switching back and forth from Streets and Trips to websites to look for CG and parks (S and T seems weak in the number of CG listed). With RVND 5510 it's all in one place.

I recently I've been using Streets and Trips 2009 and was looking for something simpler for my Wife. Delorme and Trailer have some nice features but Streets and Trips much easier for the Wife to use. I'll wait until Streets and Trips 2012 is available and couple it with Discovery Owners Megafile POI to broaden the campground base. I've currently have COE and campgrounds on Streets and Trips 2009 but my understanding is with 2010 on you can toggle on and off POI's. Hopefully 2012 will have more RV/Truck features for me.
