Motorhome Insurance in Florida

We are looking to move to Florida very soon, and need to have insurance on our Motorhome before getting it registered there. Can anyone suggest any insurance companies that are doing business in the Sunshine State.
We have gone through Good Sam, and they will help us register it, but we need to have the insurance in place first.

Thanks.

We use GMAC ....many other companies are available...after shopping around, GMAC was the cheapest for the same coverage as the others.

We live in SW Florida
I just switched from Progressive to Geico and cut my 2004 DSDP motorhome insurance cost in half.
It use to be Progressive was one of the best for the price, but my rates went up almost 50% in the last 2 years and I haven't had a ticket or a claim.
Some of the others that are rated good in Florida are:
National Interstate
Gilbert RV

Whn you bring it to FL. you will have to take it with you to the tag office and let then see it personally as they wont takes your word for the vin number or even the title ,,,it cost 200.00 to have it or any vehicle registered here,,and the tag price just doubled form abt 50.00 to 100.00 ,,yep it aint cheap to live in the sunshine state,,but it great here ,,,btw I pay alstate ins 49.00 per month for full coverage 500.00 deductible...

Hi Gene,
Consider calling an insurance broker. I have used Farm & City. They will search a variety of companies and provide selections for you to choose from. Their contact number is 800-331-1520.

I just completed calling to find another option other than Progressive. My charge from Progressive really jumped. So, I called Gilbert Insurance and they quoted $1,172/year for my 2007 DSDP 4307, comparable coverage to Progressive, which would have been $1,689/year. Still doing research but at least there is a less expensive option.

We are in Florida. I have National Interstate through Twin Peaks. My rate went down $800.00+ for the coach and toad since I got out from under Progressive and changed.

We live in Florida and use National Interstate, through their in-house online agency called ExplorerRV.com Have been satisifed with them for the last 7 years now, and I re-shop coverages and prices each year at renewal time. Good claim service too - I had a windshield replaced.

GMAC through GS is what I have had for the last 9 years. They replaced passenger side windshield on my MH two years ago.
But all insurance company's in FL. cover glass 100% no deductible.

To bad you will catch the new price increase on registration, title, etc.
Drivers license is now $48 but good for 8 years.

I managed to get all 4 of mine registered for 2 years at the old rate on 8/27.

Once you get them, next year renewal can be done on line.

Gilbert has good prices but when you have a large claim such as occured during Hurricane Charley, they just disappeared. No help, we were on our own to deal with the actual insurance company. Thank goodness for the Florida Insurance Commission, they were all the help we needed.

Bob, I realize there are always unexpected situations, especially during a devastating situation such as you experienced. Most all Insurance co's have a seperate Claims Department, which will handle the claim, regardless of the extent. I agree with you, and have had simular situations with my Auto/Homeowner coverage. The Agent will refer you directly to CLAIMS, which sometimes I feel they should show a little more interest, but in todays society, it's just not like it used to be.
