Motorhome storage

I want to tear out the grass next to my house and store my motorhome there. I do not want to pour a cement slab. I'm thinking of gravel maybe one inch. What have other people done? Looking for ideas.

doublehooked, I'm afraid if you only do an inch of stone, you will have grass or something green growing there again soon. I dug out about 4" or better and filled with stone-2B limestone. Where the wheels sit, I formed squares larger than the wheels and poured concrete about 6" thick with reinforcing in it. John H...

Hi doublehooked,
The weight of a coach (epically a DP) will deform most non-concrete ground. It is not just the part that touched the tires, it is the ground underneath. Unless you have some very hard clay soil, something more substantial than gravel will be needed. If you do not want a concrete slab, John H's post may have the alternative that would work.

First check your local ordinances (City or County) to see if you can store your RV on your property. One inch of gravel over dirt is not enough in my estimation check with some of the local driveway installers, I'm guessing 4 or 5 inches will be needed. Good Luck, Popcorn Man

I used real heavy fill rock for the base, then #8 over that, a layer of heavy plastic liner, then some more #8, leveled it with a front end loader and it has been a fine place to park. I have parked Class "A"s there for over 10 years now a Class C.

I was thinking 1 inch rock about four to six inches deep after compacting the ground.
