Motorhome wanders
Just had my toad wired, and pulled it for the first time. The coach wanders a bit while towing, but does not without the toad. The tow bar is a brand new Blue Ox. Tires are new on both vehicles. Everything is locked in and perfect. Why would it wander with the toad, and not wander without it?

Is your tow bar fairly level? Does the toad track straight? What is your mh and toad?

Was just going to mention if the towbar was level. You're allowed about 1 to 3 inch tolerance out of level up or down. Anymore then that and it might affect the way it tows. Good luck and hope you get it resolved.

The motorhome is a low-mileage (15,400 miles) 2003 Fleetwood Bounder 35R towing a 2012 GMC Terrain AWD V/6.

Is your motorhome on a Ford F53 chassis? If it is search "Cheap Handling Fix".

I'm far from an expert, but it sounds to me like there may be too much weight on the rear when set up for towing. Have you had the motorhome weighed? Is the Bounder a gasoline or diesel? The first step is to make sure the Terrain doesn't exceed the towing capacity of the motorhome. It's important to know the GCWR and to have good weight distribution in the RV, proper tire inflation, etc. When a tow is set up properly, you should not notice it's back there.

I'm assuming your bounder has a 5000 tow limit and the Terrain will top out at about 4200 lbs. So you should be good there.
Are you sure that the Terrain's ignition key is in the ACC position so that the steering wheel is unlocked?
Is the tow bar new with no slack and mounted level with the ground?
Are the Terrain's tires pumped up to 35psi each?
Can't think of anything else...

The Terrain weighs 4,000 pounds, and I am certain I am well within the weight restrictions.
