Motorhome Windshields

Do replacement windshields have different grades of quality?
Just recently replaced the windshield in our '13 WGO Journey 42e and we are questioning the quality compared to the original that took a rock on I40 near Flagstaff. If there is how can one determine what they are getting after the install company says " they are pretty much all the same"?
Thank you
Alan

Yes. Your windshield is a vital safety feature of your motor home. ... if they use original equipment glass, which is usually of higher quality and fits better. look in the lower left or right hand corner of the windshield. There should be a number and manufacturer number and name there. It may be hard to see. All windshields have to meed D. O. T. standards for safety reasons.

Replacement Winnebago windshield will have a sticker with "Winnebago " and the part number in the lower outside corner, or with a one piece like mine, in the lower right corner.
Happy Glamping.

I don't think there is any practical difference in glass quality. All windshields have to meet DOT safety standards, regardless of who makes the actual glass. And there are typically only a couple manufacturers for a given windshield size/shape, regardless of where you buy the windshield. Unlike cars, these windshields are a very low sales volume, so not so much competition among glass makers.

As already noted, you can check the imprinted glass makers logo on the original windshield and try to get the same one, but I gather you've already had it replaced? What is making you suspect the quality? Clarity? Fit & finish?

Thank you Gary, fit and finish are fine. I know gettin a rock in your face when driving these things is a certainty, it seems the new one has chipped much easier from what sounded like very minor contact.
