Motorized step cover (inside)

I have a 2007 Country Coach Intrigue. The power step cover (inside motorhome) is frozen shut. The motor is engaging and trying to push the step out but it is jammed. I see no apparent way to get inside the unit to find out what the problem is and correct it. Am I going to have to force open the step cover in order to find out what is wrong? Would appreciate help in how to repair.

If the edge is carpeted you could screw on a handle and give a pull and shake while engaging the switch. After you get it freed up just remove the handle and the carpet will cover the screw holes. Can't help if it is electric as mine was vaccume.

On my old rig, the step cover is electric and erratic in operation.

I have learned that I can grab under the lip of the cover from the steps side, and pull it open, or can push it shut.

Some dry lube on the metal runners improves the performance a great deal. Perhaps that is your only problem.

My problems appear to be irregular electrical connections on the retrieval mode.

On my 2000 Magna, the drive mechanism in the bay under the drivers seat needed lubrication. It took some work by the tech to finally get the slide to operate properly. He first sprayed lubricant into the drive mechanism, operated the slide, came around to the entry door and pulled on the slide. Went back, sprayed again, then pulled again, etc. After several times of doing this, the slide would come out completely but have to be pushed back in. Again, the spray, pull, push and finally the slide began to work.

I'm single and never close the slide. I don't really know why I paid for the labor to get the slide to work except it is supposed to work and bothered me that it didn't.

You can go to the Yahoo Country Coach Owners forum and ask your questions there. You might get more answers specific to your coach. Be sure to add your model and year of coach to your signature as that will help others answer your question.
