As long as we're talking about CW, let me weigh in: A few years ago CW bought out my local dealer in Lakewood NJ. When I needed an awning replacement I went online, did the measurments and calculated the final costs including the beer for my helpers. Then I stopped in at the CW and was quite surprised. They saved me $180 and installed it for me for $60. The prices they had were cheaper than the catalog and no shipping.
Another time I needed hydraulic hose repairs. I took it there again usiing my extended warranty. 2 weeks go by and the service guy tells me he can't get the parts from HWH. I wrote a scathing letter to CW corporate offices and got a phone call back from them. I told the guy I'm amazed that CW is such a big enterprise but has no clout with the manufacturers it shoudn't be buying up dealerships. Also told him I'd be sending a letter to websites and magazines. 2 days later, hoses replaced, hydraulic ram replaced, all paid for by HWH (so they say) and didn't cost me a dime.
I guess it's how you talk to people.....what I did notice was a lot of disgruntled employees not afraid to discuss their problems in front of customers. Say's a lot.
Except for the fact they're 10 minutes away, I still like to do my own work whenever I can.
