My door squeaks!
The rubber seal around the entry door in my MH squeaks while we are driving. I would like to find something the treat it with that will stop the squeaking but not rub off on clothing. Somewhere on the forum someone mentioned a product by NAPA called Sil-Glyde, which is a silicone-based lubricant. Has anyone used it for this purpose, or do you know of something else I can use? Thanks!

It's not the rubber, it's the hinge. Spray the hinge with silicone not the rubber. Open the door spray top to bottom, then close and spray outside same way. Bet it no longer squeeks.

I use a silicon spray. Let it dry on the door seal (it is not really rubber) before you close the door-you may want to rub it around with a cloth as well.

Does the silicone spray not leave a residue that will rub off on clothes?

I've sprayed the latches and bolts but not the hinges. I'll try that next time I take it out for a drive. Thanks!

No it does not-the neoprene (rubber) seems to soak it up.

You can try 303 aerospace. That's what I use on all my rubber type seals, dash, tires and headlight lens (to prevent yellowing). It has UV protection as well.

Are you sure it's the door? I had what I thought was a squeaky door. But my wife listened to the noise while we were underway, and discovered that it was coming from the cabinets above the sofa / dinette. I found that many of the little felt bumpers inside the corners of the cabinet doors were missing. Replacing them restored peace and quiet!

Joe.....Here is what I do once a year. I spray the entire door frame, hinges, lock strikers, gaskets and base plates with Pledge. I wipe them all down which both cleans the door and lubricates everything that squeaks. Once I'm done, I take a screwdriver and tighten all the screws associated with the door and frame. It always works well and gives the door a good cleaning.
