My new motorhome is no more!
Hi guys,
Some have asked about the motorhome I had on order and thought I'd tell you about it.
The day before I was leaving to pick up my new coach, the dealer called and told me there was an accident. A salesman was showing a couple a motorhome and as the grownups were inside the 10 year old decided it would be cool to take the golf cart on a joyride. A joyride ending with him running into my motorhome.
That would have been bad enough had he stopped, but he didn't! Not until putting a 20 foot gash along the side of the coach! Truth be told... I love that kid!
For the last three weeks before the coach got there I'd had nothing but problems with the dealer. I'll not go into the why of it, but we can all agree, getting a new coach should be a good and fun experience. That's the way it started and then they proceeded to try and suck the joy right out of me. I can tell you that is no easy feat because I give no one permission to do that! But they were sure knocking on the door!
The dealer did not work out of malice or intent to deceive. It was a matter of a couple incompetent people who simply didn't do their jobs. For that reason I'll not give the name of the dealer! They dealt with the situation, although after the fact, and I'll leave it at that!
I'll be back on the motorhome scene come next week. I promised my DW I'd not do anything about a motorhome for a week! She was furious with what went on and the full momma bear was released on the unsuspecting public...
She loves her man, what can I say!

Things have a way of working out for the best...
And think of the education you've gained from the experience!
Thanks for letting us know.

Hi Larry,
I sure didn't think that way at the time... But right you are, it must be the bear in you!

I'm sorry you had a bad experience but things seem to have a way of working out for the better.
I have never had much luck ordering anything and having it built or delivered the way I wanted it. It always seems as though somewhere along the way someone has a "better" idea and they implement it.
I prefer to look and put my hands on something before I commit to buying it. This way I know for sure if it is or isn't the way I want something to be.
One exception was when I ordered my new John Deere tractor. I carefully reviewed the option's list and checked off what I wanted added to the tractor. I got a call when the tractor came into the dealership to come look at it and make sure everything was correct. I did go and was pleased to see it was exactly the way I had specked it out. Two days later after the dealership serviced the tractor and prepared it for delivery I went down to the dealership and drove the tractor away.
I later added a couple options I wished I had ordered originally but I did the install myself and now I am pleased I did.
If I were you I would start looking everywhere you can possibly do so and find a unit you will be happy with. Who knows, maybe after seeing more in person you may change your mind about a couple things and be happier in the long run. If you are buying from stock you may even get a better deal. The dealer wants to move inventory rather than pay the floor plan on it.
Good Luck,
Lynn

Sometimes things work out for the best without our help. Sounds like you got out of a very "NOT FUN" situation. Good luck getting past this.

Oh great, they'll do a bunch of body work and then put it back on the lot to sell to some unsuspecting new buyer.
Someone's going to get a raw deal out of this...............

But it won't be Wyofree. I prefer the possibility that someone may get a well repaired RV to enjoy..
WyoFree- good luck with your search....sometimes it's fun to start over.

A delay is disappointing but not the end of the world. If you were having problems BEFORE the sale just imagine what might have happened AFTER the sale and they had ALL your money.
Good idea to take a breathe and do nothing for a period of time.
I believe things happen for a reason. Hope it all turns out good in the end.

I'm not sure I'd equate buying a motorhome a bad experience, at least as it compares to buying a car, as all my history with buying even a car, and paying cash, that it's still a three hour minimum experience in aggravation... : /

In other words, quoting Superman:
"No comment until the time limit is up!" Sometimes a time-out is desirable after getting stressed. Best of luck on whatever RV you get.
It would be interesting to see if the parents will be held liable for the cost of the damage.

You went to the wrong dealer. I had to replace my 88 Silverado after it was stolen out of my driveway and stripped. (I had it for 27 years and it was my favorite. I had just had estimates to have it repainted because I was planning on keeping it until.)
I looked around to see what the local dealers had on their lots and couldn't find what I wanted. One dealer said he could get what I wanted which was a GMC 1500 Sierra regular cab SLE 2 wheel drive and gave me an out the door price including tax, tag & title but it would take a day or so. I went on the internet and found a dealer about 50 miles away that had a GMC 1500 Sierra SLE 4X4 on his lot right color and all but 4X4. Out of curiosity I asked the out the door price and he wanted $12 less than the local dealer wanted for the same vehicle but 2 wheel drive. I told them we would drive down that afternoon to check it out. They said they would deliver it to our house after they detailed it and if I didn't want it just send it back. We worked out the deal over the phone and that afternoon it was delivered to our door. After checking it out all we had to do was sign a few papers and write them a check for it. It took less than 30 minutes to check it out, sign the papers, write the check and the delivery man was gone. I did have to wait for them to send me the paperwork to take to my local tag agency to pick up the title and registration.
Best service I've ever had.
