My Next MH Bucket List

Is there a Motorhome on the market (used) that would have our bucket list'

1. queen bed with counter tops and 2 drawer nite stands

2. Two large double sliding door closets (hers & his)

3. full body paint

4. minimum of 2 slides

5. plenty of cabinet space throughout

6. side by side fridge

7. stove with oven and microwave

8. diesel engine, prefer CAT

9. dinette booth with sliding drawers

10. outside compartments that swing out (not up)

11. Side radiator (easier to access engine)

12. 6 gal water heater

13. Front TV mounted to rear or side (not over front)

14. No decals unless painted on.

15. 2 a/c's one atleast a 15,000btu

16. 2 furnaces

17. chassis and coach batteries on slide-out trays

Does such a MH exist? Might add more later.

If you know of something that meets this, let me know the make and model so I can find the layout to view.

Well we have about eight of them and then a few things more that we love but you didn't list. Some of the things are offset by those things we have you didn't list. For example you list a 6 gallon WH we have a 10 gallon, you list a TV in a Specific place, we have three TV's, one being in front of the L-shaped couch, over the fireplace, one in the bedroom and one outside. We have plenty of storage with his/her closets but not sliding doors. We didn't want a diesel pusher so that would eliminate a few things on your list for us. So yes you can pretty much get everything you want on your list, or you can always special order it. Look at the Newmar floorplans you may find what you are looking for.

I haven't seen these but the rest is easy. I've never seen two furnaces either but I require a hydro Hot or Aqua Hot so I don't look at anything else.

You won't get everything on your list in one MH. You need to narrow your list down to the absolute MUST HAVES and the WOULD BE NICE features. Then start looking at MH and/or floor plans with your MUST HAVES. I would think google diesels with side radiators if those are 2 deal breaker MUST HAVE'S and view online and then go see them ... nothing beats getting out and actually seeing and walking the MH's. Buying used may have you compromising more than buying new.

We have most if not more than your list but we bought new so we could pick exactly what we wanted ... We have 3 TVs (above FP, bdrm above FP & outside; not over front), 2 sliding closet doors, side by side frig, diesel, lots of storage NO SIDE RADIator, 3 slides, full body paint, Queen with 2 night stands, outside compartments that swing out (not up) PLUS more! We wanted table/chairs but a bench dinette is available. No reason to have an oven with a convection/microwave oven that does it all;better to have storage in place of an oven!

Oh I forgot we have 2 AC, 10 gal hot water heater but only 1 furnace which we have not used ... we use our 2 electric FP instead. And that's two models ... 2015 Itaska Merdian 35M and it's sister 2015 Winnebago Journey 36M.

Your BUDGET will also determine what you get and don't get. FIRST ... your MUST HAVE'S!!!

Good luck!

You might check into the Tiffin Allegro Bus and Phaeton models. They will fill most, if not all of your list. Even our Allegro RED fills all but about 4 of your requirements. Ours even came with a King bed, which we changed out for a queen due to space. As previously said, I would want a 10 gallon water heater, not a 6 gallon.

Thanks for the responses so far. Never thought of a 10 gal water heater, will add that to the list.

Let me clarify the closet item; currently we have one that goes fully across the back of the mh and it has shelves on one end and even a drop down on the other end for long coats and dresses, (hers). Our second closet is across from the bathroom area and is about 5' wide with 4 drawers under it, (his) This has been something we have not seen in other mh's except for the Nationals, are there mh's besides National that did this?

You really limit the market with the choice of a Cat engine. They haven't been in the market in years and when they were, they were not as popular as the Cummins. To get a Cat with a side radiator you would get your best results with an older Beaver coach.

Eliminate the Cat requirement and your world opens up. Monaco in the Camelot and Dynasty level probably have many models that would meet your requirements. Again, you limit yourself to probably 2005 on up for side opening doors.

Sounds like a American coach

Try removing the items on your list that can be addressed after purchase.

1. Drop in stove and oven.
2. Booth vs Dinette
3. Location of TV
4 BTU of AC unit

Then focus on the structural features you want in the rig that are hard to change.

1. Slides
2 Engine
3 Length
4 Basement door swing
5 Number of toilets and vanities
6 Quality of cabinets

Even our old non-slide rig meets most of your criteria.

Look at a Country Coach Integra, Magna, or Affinity. Or check out the American Eagle or Tradition. Most other upper line rigs will get close to your needs.

Any particular reason you want a 6 gallon water heater instead of a Aqua hot?

Our friends had an Aqua Hot system in their Beaver, the fumes from it running was a real hassle to those parked next to the exhaust side.

There are models with 4000 watts of electric elements in addition to the diesel burner.....this means that when hooked to shore power, the diesel burner wouldn't be used except in extreme cold weather, or you took 30 minute long hot showers.

Really the best of both worlds...... Ask the folks here what they think of their Aqua hot system......you will find most would never have another coach without it !

It is good to have a list of qualities you are looking for, but you should also be ready to compromise when you find a well cared for coach that is a good value.

BTW, the number one on my list would be complete maintenance records showing the coach was used fairly continuously throughout its life.
