Nothing purchased yet but seriously looking at two and need a little advice.

One is the Itasca Horizon, Cummins 350, Basement Air, Real Low Mileage - couple of external decals showing wear.

Second is American Coach Tradition, CAT C9 400, Roof Air, 70K miles - couple of small windows showing a little fog.

Price is within budget (almost) but want to get the most for use as a second home, frequent travel and 6 month or more trips.

Any advice, comments or discussion will help.

Tires and Everything is good on both no apparent issues with systems on board either.

My sister has a 2004 Itasca Meridian. The woodwork is really nice and the Freightliner chassis with the Cat 350 (C-7) has been a good performer. Over the years though they have major issues with the "J hook" roof attachment system and the paint going bad.

You don't say if the two coaches are the same year, but if they are, the American Tradition is a much higher end coach and would be my choice if all things were equal.

I've been reading posts on two RV forums for the past 10 years.

I'd go with the American Coach Tradition.

Both are close to the same year Itasca is 04 American is 05. American has full body paint clear, Itasca decals over body paint. Both are nice condition American has been used some the Itasca not so much.

I've always thought that the American was a higher end coach so I would lean in that direction.

As a WBGO owner... I am a VERY happy customer.. but that being said... I'd go for the American Coach in a heartbeat...

Not that the WBGO isn't a good coach... it's just the American is head and shoulders above...

Also... you mention the tires are "good"... Please DO NOT go on tread alone.. find the date code and verify their age... Tires (especially carrying that type of weight) need to be updated every 7-8 years...

"Not used much" is not a plus for a Diesel engine and generator.

Now that you tell us the American Coach is newer, I would definitely go with the American coach. It may not be important now, but once you start cleaning and waxing it, you'll find the American coach will have a much better finish and a good deep clear coat.
