Differential fluid has a heavy smell to it. Brake fluid much less. Even after washing your hands the smell will still be present. I'm guessing axel seals.

You might try the finger test. Rub the fluid that's leaking off the rotor between your fingers for feel and then smell. Check you brake fluid reservoir the same way. If it smells and feels the same. You know. As others have said. Differential fluid will be thicker and smell more and different.

I'm glad others have chimed in to assist. I love that about this forum!

You can also call TransWest in Grand Junction. They do both RVs and trucks in two different shops, but not all brands.

Call them and discuss it first to get initial triage. Proceed as you decide!
If you need a tow, make it be on a flatbed.
Best wishes, Bro!
AZ is where we will soon play!
Thanks Dave .... It's under control, and its par for the course ..... I should have had them inspected at my last yearly and didn't, simply because I forgot to.

Well I've exhausted all possibilities here in Montrose, and tomorrow will carefully drive the coach to Grand Junction to TransWest RV and truck repair so the problem can be diagnosed and parts ordered, once the parts arrive they feel they can have it done in a day. It's a slight interruption in my rainbow riding but it is, what it is, and it needs to be corrected.

Hopefully you will let all of us know what they find under there and what was actually happening. Good luck.

Well as it sits, and we sit in a parking lot in Grand Junction, the parts are ordered and on the way. $2400.00 including shipping, labor to be determined, one set of rear axle brakes, one set of parking brakes, two sets of rear axle/rear wheel seals and two rear rotors, things are looking up.

And we'll see you Wednesday one way or the other. Annie told Marcia this morning that we plan to jail break you and do a day trip while they have the Beave in the shop! Also, the owner here says he'll give us the monthly rate for any days we want to stay beyond the 12th. We can prioritize our excursions and still see much of what we had planned. Woot!

Man, that's a hit. Sorry to hear!

They'll turn the rotors a hair to clean them up. I'll place a bet labour will be around $1400.

On the bright side, she'll have darn nice rear end that'll stop a coach in its tracks! LOL

Well actually we are getting new rotors, the originals that are currently on the coach will be headed to the junk yard. Labor rate is $135.00 an hour and they said it will take less than a day, so lets hope for less than $1400.00
