The best way to handle a 10 % grade is to use your mountain book to go some other way.

Good advise above.. I also use the mountain books. They give you a very good idea of what is coming so you can be ready.

Could someone provide the actual name of the Mountain Book please. A search brings everything from mountain biking to climbing Everest but not what you folks are describing.

Thanks a bunch Clifftall. Book is now on order at a cost of $14.95 from mountaindirectory.com. Now this is weird. Amazon has the book used for $72.75!
