Need directions...please.

Next week, I'll be traveling from Atlantic City, NJ to East Lyme, CT. I did the trip two years ago by going up the Garden State to 95, Geo. Wash bridge and stayed on 95.
Needless to say, I did not enjoy the trip. I got lucky, as the toll booth operator charged me like a car and not a 5 axle Class A with Toad.

I was hoping for something a little more relaxed.

My clearance is 13' (12'10").

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Looking at that route you've used, there's not much of a better choice. Anything else would just add to the mileage and time on the road.

I was surprised to just learn we were allowed to use the (GSPKY) in a class (A). I've been avoiding it all this time.

All the best

keep on the garden state past the GW bridge onto the New yourk throughway for a short period then go right over a bidge, forget the name oto i think is 284 or something like that. It conneects to 95 but well after NYC.

On the garden state you have to be careful for some bridges are a little low and you have to be sure you stay in the middle of the span

I live in CT so I have to go through this quite often, All the Road suck up here and there is no easy way to travel from NJ to CT.

Shorter the better so find the most direct route and drive slower in the rough.

The Tappan Zee Bridge is an alternative that I would use because the GWB can be backed up any time of day as can the Cross Bronx Xpwy. Regardless which way you go, be sure to hit the bridge late morning or early afternoon! I generally listen to 1010 AM (WINS) for traffic every ten minutes so I can make a decision as late as possible.

I've also gone up to Newburgh (I 287 to I 87) on the west side of the Hudson and picked up I-84 there. Definitely longer given your destination and I think the east bound bridge has construction ongoing.
