Need help on tire choices

Hi all:

I have a 1995 35 foot on a F53 chassis. I run it at only 15,500 pounds.

1) Are the Michelin XPS and XPS "RIB" the same thing or no?
2) For that weight, do I need something with steel SIDEWALLS, or will nylon be ok?
3) Is highway tread okay for dry dirt roads (getting to campsites) or do I need all terrain tread?

Any help is appreciated!

MH's should always have steel sidewalls and belts.

Depends on how deep the dirt is and whether it's WET!!

Normal highway tread will leave you stuck in 1" of grass covered dirt if it's wet and all wheels are in it.

I have had the Michelin XPS for several years. Often traveling several miles down dirt roads to get to a camping area. Tires have worked fine. Need a new set as current tires have aged out - plan to replace with Michelin XPS again.

So again, are XPS and XPS rib the same?

Do the tires have to have steel sidewall? I"m not talking steel belted. I will get steel belted. I'm talking steel sidewall? I figure Load E is Load E isn't it? I mean they all have to handle the same load rating.

Could I suggest that you talk this over with a good truck tire dealer. They should easily be able to tell you the difference, if any, and make a recommendation for your specific needs. Won't cost anything to talk to them. You could do it over the phone.
