Need service recommendation

We need a rv repair recommendation in central New Jersey. Our Norcold 1200LR is leaking ammonia and needs a new cooling unit. Has anybody had this done around Farmingdale New Jersey?

I see from your profile you have a Beaver Contessa, a very nice coach.

In situations like this it might be viable to replace the refrigerator with a residential type unit cheaper, depending on your needs. There are residential size refrigerators that will fit into the current opening without much modification (depending on headroom). Samsung make an 18 cuft refer that seems to be popular and can run off the current inverter. This is a French door model with a lower freezer unit, cost ~$1700 + installation. There are smaller 2 door refers that would work also.

Seems like a daunting task but they get the new refer in through a window, normally the drivers side window.

Just a thought.

If you still want to keep your absorption unit I would consider adding the Amish cooling unit, I think this runs +$2000 but they can replace the cooling unit without removing the refer from the coach.

Good luck, I'll be watching this post as I am starting to have trouble with my 2001 Norcold not cooling properly.

A BIG caveat on replacing with a residential fridge:
You will need to add a pure sine wave inverter and more battery power as your coach was engineered for the old style fridge. So you will need to find space for that and have wiring installed so the new batteries will get charged.
I also searched the internet and found replacement cooling units for a lot less.

Good luck

I would ditch the Not-So-Cold and install a RR frig, one of the best moves that I have made. My coach came with 4 (6v batteries) and down the road I may add 2 more but only when I need to replace the other 4. I did change out my inverter to the Magnum 2812 and new controller BUT the Samsung will run just fine on the Xantrex Freedom 458. My coach has been running on the inverter going on 3 years.
This is not my install but mine looks the same
Samsung Refrigerator Install
My Samsung 197 cost $1049 and $700 to have it and the Magnum installed plus the price of the Magnum 2812 and controller.
Now my beer is at 38deg and the ice cream is rock hard.

J C camper I think they are in New Egypt or Jackson good people they will take care of you and are honest. Stay away from the guy in Farmingdale they will charge you just for a price on tires.

Need service recommendation

My Norcold in my 2011 RV works great. Love the dual source of power. Cools just as well as the $4,000 fridge in my S&B.

Cheers!
