Need to purchase new tow bar setup
Last bar is over 10 years old and was recently damaged. Looking for info on what your thoughts are on more current setups and cost range. Going on a 2010 acadia. Thanks

I am going to switch to roadmaster when it is time because of the excellent rock guards they have.

I bought my Blue Ox Aladin Aluminum Tow bar (37 Lbs) off of Ebay along with a brake buddy and remote, all for under $600 Bought a Blue Ox Base plate for Jeep Liberty for under $300 and installed it myself. Bought wiring harness for $65 Have the complete setup for under $1000 You can get adapters for different Tow bars to match the base plate no matter what brand. If you buy everything new Tow Bar, Aux Brake for toad, Wiring harness for tail and stop lightes, and have to have it installed you could be looking at several thousand dollars. Depending on type make and brands.

I did the same as "2 Stroker" and traded in my Roadmaster Sterling 6K tow bar for a 10K Falcon tow bar. I was towing a 4500 pound truck and went to a 5500 pound truck with a RZR occasionally in the bed.
I'm a Roadmaster fan and have had good luck with the two I've owned.

I use a BlueOx Aventa, 10,000 Lb tow bar and find it excellent. If I were in the market to replace it, I would go with the same one unless I were going to change to a larger toad, in which case I'd go with the Avail which is a longer bar allowing for a shorter turning radius.

You decision may depend on what base plate you have and what's compatible with it without having to buy extra adapters. I have a Demco base plate and a Blue Ox Alpha (6,500lb) tow bar and have had great luck with both. The Blue Ox mates with the Demco perfectly.

I highly recommend the NSA ReadyBrute towbars with built-in ReadyBrake!

We used a (now obsolete) Roadmaster Sterling 6K towbar to tow our 2004 Jeep Wrangler over 115,000 miles before it was destroyed in an accident. In the 13+ years we had it the only thing we did to it was replace some plastic bushings at the 10 year mark and clean it regularly.
We replaced it with the Sterling All Terrain 8k towbar in 2014 and have about 10,000 miles on the new system.
As a side note the Sterling and Sterling All Terrain were both capable of 8K from the start. They were derated to 6K for several years because the safety cables that came with them were only rated for 6K.
We've had excellent performance from both Roadmaster towbars and will buy another if and when it's needed.
