Need Tranny Help

I have a 95 HR Vacationer Ford F53 chassis with I believe the E40D trans. I want to change the trans filter. I have found no drain plug on pan but found one on converter. Should I drain converter first and the drop pan? How much fluid will be left in pan? Any other better way.

That was a Ford better idea on no drain plug. The same as on my Ford pickup. I loosen the pan bolts then leave a couple in at one end so the other end of the pan swings down. It is messy and you need a large pan to catch it. I went to Home Depot and bought a large plastic storage bin that goes onder a bed. I slide that under the tranny to catch the splash then put a smaller pan inside to catch the main dop of oil. Yes I would drain the converter. I think there is around 7 qts in the pan. Those E04D trannies need at least the fluid changed in the pan every 30-40 thousand miles. Old fluid in the E04D is its biggest enemy.

My daughters Isuzu Rodeo doesn't have one either, must be a foreign thing
