Need Travel Advice on PA Turnpike

Hello, Fellow Travelers!

I'm going to be starting from around Harrisburg, PA, late in the day tomorrow afternoon and will be heading west to MI. Can any one tell me if I might be able to stop and find a spot at one of Service Plaza Truck stops for a short few hours to rest at night, or will they be too full? Greatly appreciate any suggestions!

Regards to All!

You'll have to park with the tractor trailers but I don't think there will be any problems. I would think they would rather have you napping in the rest area than some place that isn't as safe. We've never had to stop that long on the pike so really couldn't say, but I would go into the stop and ask there!

There are 3 or 4 rest areas on I80 in Ohio that have dedicated rv parking with power hookups and dump stations. Check Ohio Turnpike website for locations.

Good point! That is about 240 mi to the Ohio border. I should be able to go that far. Thanks for chiming in.

• Vermilion Valley (Milepost 139.5)
• Brady’s Leap (Milepost 197.0)
Westbound:

Thanks for the good advice, I'll!

I take it they should be long enough for my coach and my toad.

Depends. They are not very large. Last time we checked the first one you come too would not have held our DP with toad. Actually it wouldn't have held our previous rig which was a dually long bed with. 32ft 5th wheel either

Maybe someone else has better info.

I wish they had listed how many at each plaza and how long. I suppose you have to pay first before you see it - right?

As I recall no. Its a fenced area, but there's a machine that you pay. Easy enough to maneuver there, take a look see first

I went that route in July and the sites were too small for my rig. 43' plus toad.

We parked with the trucks and it was a nice experience, no problems and no noise. Easy in and out. Just like a pull thru.

All the ones I have been in with my 32 there was plenty of room. you can do a drive by and if there is not enough room continue on to the truck lot.
I always plan out where I'm going to park and check it out on google earth.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. But I have a 45' + my toad!
