I agree! The blanket caution "does it have a clear title. If yes the bidding war started if no then the bank has the title." I haven't had to deal with a lien on anything I've bought or sold for quite some time, but I wouldn't shy away from buying a vehicle with a lien as long as it's a credible loan company. Could be you'd be dealing with a motivated seller trying to get rid of the monthly payments!

i agree that the bank holding the title shouldn't be a deal breaker, but it could add to the time involved and may indicate a few things.

go by your bank and talk to your local loan officer and ask what procedures you need to follow... make notes!

i just typed then deleted a whole pile of suggestions about "what if" but the list got long... and the rules can change in each state... so getting detailed advice from your loan officer is my suggestion.
