new buyer

I am planning on buying a class a this year and wonder if there is a best time of year to purchase. I live in the Houston Texas and there is a ppl close to my location. I am thinking about a gas one with 8.1 Chevy .
I will be towing a car trailer from time to time and it weighs around 7000 lbs. The next question is will this work or should I go to a diesel ? I am looking to tow at lease 4 time a year currently.

Welcome to irv2. The best time of year depends in a lot of factors. I think you'll find the gas class A is underrated for a 7000 lb toad.

I would suggest buying during the winter months. Can't advise you on towing but I have had both the Ford and Chevy chassis and found the Chevy to be a smoother ride.

I would suggest that you go to rv.org pay their price, read all their material, figure out which coaches meet your needs and wants. This will be the best money you spend on your coach. Then go to oodle.com plug in what you're looking for check the right boxes and it will send you daily updates. This site looks all over the web except for craigslist. Plan on spending some time and travel to find what you're looking for, beware of deals that sound too good to be true. 99.999% of the time they are scams. Good Luck and happy hunting

Hi cruiserjohn,
PPL does sell a bunch of pre owned coaches. To me, this means their pricing might be a value to the buyer. As to the 7K towing, I don't think you'll find a gas coach that can tow that much weight. Most are rated at 5K maximum. Both the hitch and the coach rating should be checked, before you fall in love with any coach.

Consider a diesel powered coach. Make sure the coach and the hitch are rated for 10K lbs. (GCWR-GVWR). Above all and most important, make sure the wife loves the floor plan.
