New Class A tires

This subject has probably been addressed before but this is my first Class A and new to iRV2. Coach is a 2004 Damon Challenger, 34 ft., Ford V10. My last rig was a travel trailer. Retiring soon and plan to travel but this coach has bad original tires. Size is 245 70x19.5. Looking for good, quiet tires that don't have to be higher priced Michelins. Looking only for good comments, not bad mouthing problem tires. Any help on how to spend my tire money would be appreciated. Looking to spend $2,500 or so for six tires if I can get decent tires for that price. Thanks for any and all help.

I have the same tire size that you have. In a month or so Iwill replace my original tires with Samsons. I have researched and read many reviews and only put credence on the ones who actually own them. If you do the same you will save a lot of money. If you want to spend more money, get the Goodyears. A website called Simple Tire has the best prices I can find. Good luck and good travels. And I am glad you found iRV2!

I bought that size Michelin XRV for our coach. Suggest to check price via the FMCA Michelin purchase program. Best price I found and great service via Michelin authorized dealer.

This is my third set of purchased Michelin XRV. No problems whatsoever.

I went through the same researching and comparing over a year ago when I bought my 2001 Damon Intruder. Same size tires as yours. After comparing the cheaper options and spending a month worrying about it, heard about FMCA's deal with Michelin for the XRV's. Saves you a bundle! Still a bit higher than the Asian knockoffs, but I figure for the value of your coach and the cargo (i.e. you and the Mrs.) it's like additional insurance as for quality and especially warranty replacements if you are out in no name Wyoming etc. where they never heard of a Sailun, or Sumitomo, or such. And you are sitting on the side of the road. My opinion and my choice. Good Luck in your search!

I just replaced the same size tire last spring. After all my research, I put my money down on Hankook AH11'S. I have been very happy with them so far and came in at your budget up here in Canada. Prices are lower in the US.

Just spent 3000 all in taxes, installation, balancing, up here in the true north this year for Michelins. You could get them cheaper in US. You can get prices all over the place for various brands. When purchasing consider everything all in plus warranties, and where to get warranties honored.

I have Hankooks on the gasser and Yokohamas 16 ply H range on the Sahara. I really like the Yokos. The Hankooks are a little hard, but I do have them aired up to 10 psi below max.

I put Sumitomos on my previous coach, replaced the Goodyears both same size as yours. They are Japanese mfg. I was very happy with them. They gave a softer ride than the Goodyears at the same inflation pressure. I only had the Sumitomos for a couple of months when I traded for my current coach so I can't address wear.

Take a good look at Toyo, I put them on last spring and very happy with them.

I too have the Hankooks on my rig. They were on the coach when we purchased it last June.

So far I am pleased with the tire.

I have 12ply Hankook Ah11's up front, and four 14ply Gladiator QR55-ST's waiting to be installed (along with four, 8oz bags of dynabeads and filtered cores) for the rear.
The Gladiators were $625 shipped (tires were $134ea) from tires-easy dot com; I see the price has gone up now to $175ea. The 12ply QR55-STs are still $134ea.
All are 225/70R19.5

I have a 1996 Allegro 28m I had Michelins on my coach they were ageing out starting to crack so I searched the net on several rv sites. I was interested in a less expensive tire that the Michelins (over $3000) for 6 new tries mounted and balanced. After reading tons of post I stumbled into a guy who had a long going post about Samsons he had recorded his experience form day one to 10,000 miles later he had a 34 ft Winne with a tag axel. He highly recommended the Samsons. I live in east Texas and I spoke with my local tire dealer asking about the Samsons they told me that the school buses us them and the have had very good results. I got 6 Samsons on my coach for $1320 I have about 2800 miles on them and I'm very pleased. My Michelins were F load rated the Samsons are G load rated I was worred about a harsher ride but not the case at all. My tire size is 225 70 19.5 I would recommend them to anyone I run 80 psi in them and they ride great , my coach only ways 14,000 lbs. Have a great day and keep them shining

I had 6 Samson 245/70R19.5 tires installed two years ago that are H rated. They are very quiet on my motorhome and provide a smooth ride except when roads are potholed or have deep expansion joints. Otherwise it rides almost as good as a car.
