This is absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations. What a top notch job you did. I would still be scared to death to take this on.

Thanks! A few points. I prefer the look of wood, I live on 4300ft of travertine tile in my stick home. The scraped wood actually feels "soft" under your feet and comfortable. The wood is much lighter installed then tile. I wanted to remove carpet from my slides and I am not sure tile on my slides would work (never saw an example) from a crack or weight perspective.
As I said in my thread I thought about keeping my existing tile, but then thought better of it.

But a questions from a true neophyte: Why wood rather than a high quality tile? Is it simply taste for the wood look or a utilization an longevity of one as apposed to the other?

Ok, first trip in progress since doing the floor.
Still love it! Camping at the beach, quick sweep and clean.
Had no dash heat on drive out to fort Bragg, 7 hour drive starting in the cold morning. Knew it would be something simple and it was, I had inadvertently unplugged the fan motor switch when working on dash area.
I do have a problem. Ever play the game when you were a kid where the floor was lava? Well, crap, my 180lb English mastiff is playing that game. For some reason the floor scares him!!!!
Slides working great, no marks on floor.
:-)
Chris

I replaced the carpet in the living area of my 2005 Country Coach late last year. I used engineered hardwood. I have four slides, the drivers side slide does raise up when retracting so the floor is flat when extended. This did not present a problem for the hardwood. I did not replace the tile in the galley or bathroom. I have been real pleased with the results.

hi ronandsue74, would it be possible for you to post pictures of how you did your flooring in your slides? We have similar slides that drop down flush when they are extended and we would be very interested in seeing how you installed yours. Can't wait to get the carpet out and replace with some nice wood. Thanks a bunch!

new flooring
Nice job, we did our this winter in FL due to a water leak, removed the carpet to bedroom, reinstall 7/16 thick laminate flooring, had a hard time removing the tile in front of kitchen and thousand of staples, but it turn out very nice, very easy to keep clean. 1999 discovery 36t model.

Benny,
I did whatever needed to get the wood against the wall. A table saw is highly recommended for this job.
