New flooring in Motorhome Dilemma

I m going to replace the carpeting soon with vinyl planking. The rig is an 02 Holiday Rambler 34ft Neptune. The weirdness is in the kitchen, dealing with the existing "oak" flooring and the transition to where it meets the present carpeting.

It seems to be very close to the same height between the oak flooring and the carpet. How close to the same height do these need to be to be able to go over the oak? Or should I butt up to the oak and leave it exposed? (DW is against that)

side note: spilling PVC glue on the carpeting kind of sealed the deal on replacing the carpeting 2 nights ago.

Thanks for yalls help,eh?

Brad

Rip out the "oak " and replace all of it with Vinyl. If not I recommend a transition piece made out of oak.

Upon further investigation, I found that the oak goes underneath the kitchen cabinets and fridge. We either pull out the carpet and lay down plywood thru the whole mh to get everything the same height, or we butt up to the oak. I think we will keep the oak and run the other flooring up next to it. We will be using a tile-looking flooring, not one that looks like hardwood.
