Question New Forest River Birkshier Owner

Just purchased a 2011 Birkshier with 10K miles and want to know what to expect. Are there areas of concern? What brakes? Whats good! I live in Alabama so I don't have problems with temps so tell me all you Forest River owners.

We have a 2011 Berkshire and there are a few hints I can give you. Probably the first is that you may want to join the Forest River Owners Group (FROG) and take a look at their Berkshire link. Other hints that I can think of is that there was a recall in 2012 or 13 regarding the inverter. You may want to check to see if that was done. Another potential trouble spot is the carrying capacity. I was shocked when I found out that mine was less than 2,000 pounds without water, passengers, and stuff. I felt that wasn't adequate. If you find that you have a low carrying capacity then you may want to contact FR to see what they will do about it. They made some modifications to mine which bulked it up to a CC of 5,000 pounds.

I see you are in Florida so you may want to check out Magna Shades for your unit. The Berk is a great unit but it's insulation and A/C units leave much to be desired. The Magna Shades can help to reduce the heat in the rig.

Other than that, enjoy your new unit. Have fun and safe travels.
