People's favorite is the one they love to sleep on. That is not the one that might be right for you.
ie - Both Thom and I have tried sleep number, foam and gel and hate them all. We prefer a euro pillow top mattress.
That is why I try to tell people that they must try out each one and make up their own mind. Go to stores that sell them and try them all out.

If your in the Kansas City area, Hawn Bedding in Lee's Summit will make you a standard spring and coil mattress in any size you want. The make it right there, they will give a tour of the plant too. It took 3 days from when we placed the order. They can make a pillow top or not. Soft, firm or extra firm. What I like about my mattress, they use a cable not a steel rod along the edge of the mattress so when you sit on the edge, it doesn't jab you under the leg. They make one type of mattress if you have a box spring and they make a different type of mattress if used without a box spring. Mine is 10 1/2" thick extra firm. Love it. They been making mattresses for something like 50 years, it is still a family owned business.
