New member seeking advice

I am seeking some advice on a purchasing a new dp. I am looking at 2006-2008 tiffin and newmar 40-45' coaches. Everything I have seen and read I won't be making a bad choice. I looked at a 06 40' winnebago that was very nice and found out it had basement air. My concern is basement air is no longer a produced item and I had a real bad experience with basement air in a 1998 alpha toy house. I primarily dry camp on concrete at drag strips running on generator. I really liked the quiet of the basement air but sitting with 100 degrees outside in 80% humidity with no shade really makes me nervous.
If it fails $1000 replaces 1-2 of the rooftop units with basement air $1000 starts on a service call if they don't have a major repair.
Also how long will parts be available for these units. I plan on owning this coach for 3-5 years.

Sounds like your mind is made...best luck. Now just to pick floor plan.

The Winnie basement aircon will fade from availability. I would guess that some will retro-fit with rooftop units and some will go with the new(ish) idea of a "mini-split" aircon retro-fit. The mini-split is cheaper and more efficient than a rooftop unit.

Here's a very light overview of what a mini-split is, for those who don't know.

We are not affiliated. The install does not require a HVAC contractor w/ surplus refrigerant within the compressor unit, and the unit runs on 110VAC.
I would retrofit a basement bin for the compressor unit, but his bumper mount is simple and effective.

Safe travels
