I'm going to be in the market for new tires. Will be replacing Michelin 255/80r/22.5's. Is there a tire out there that's as good and more reasonable in price? Have read the pros and cons on the Michelins and am undecided.

Welcome to iRV2. For me, the answer is no. I've been using Michelin's (on a coach) since 1978. Had two problems and they were both taken care of, by Michelin. Smooth ride and long life service. Michelin now says 10 years (with inspections) is what their tires will do. I keep mine covered and coated with tire dressing, when not rolling down the road. I have 54K miles on the current set. Very little wear and the sidewalls look perfect. My size is different than yours (275X70RX22.5) LRJ. I have XZE2+ on the front and XZA1 on the rear.

Everybody has an opinion about tire brands - it's sort of like Ford, Chevy & Dodge, each with those who either love or hate the brand.

Other major, quality tire manufacturers in this size range are Bridgestone, Goodyear, Continental, Toyo and Yokahama. Most of those will be less expensive than Michelin, but it depends a lot on the dealer and his pricing. Shop around.

Just replaced my 8 year old XRV'S with 48,000 miles (just a bit of weather cracking starting) with new XRV'S. I was thinking of replacing them with a cheaper tire but when I was getting the prices a mh pulled in with tread separation on 2 of the 6 cheap tires that he just put on 800 miles ago. That was the selling point to stay with Michelins. I have to say that I do like the idea that most anywhere I can get a replacement or warranty. I think that off brands would be hard to get any warranty in the more remote areas

Believe we'll be sticking with Michelin's since their warranty and service is excellent whether a car or MH, they'll do you right, or they did Nana & PoPs. Car tires are Michelin's and after 1.5 years had an issue and they payed for 1/2 the tire cost to replace, no questions. Nothing but Michelin's for us!

Probably like WalMart , they may sell them , but probably isnt firsts , probably not same quality as offered by Michelin dealers ..

I believe the brand was "SAVANO" or something like that. There was a lot of commotion around the rig when I was there so I couldn't get to much time to talk to the owner of the rig.. Never did get the quote on that tire at the time. They did say it was a Korean brand. Going to stop over and see if I can find out size and brand for sure. My tire size is p225-70-19.5 and was told that it was the cheapest they could get.

I also went searching the web and found that TOYO had a tire that replaced the Michelin XRV--its the M154 (it's e-balanced and doesn't require wheel weights or beads in your tires). (245/75r/22.5) I love the ride and they were allot cheaper--I saved around $500 bucks.

Wood, I went to the Toyo Tire site and it doesn't say that the M154 tire replaces the XRV. Am I looking in the wrong place. It did however state it replaces:

The Toyo M154 replaces the following commercial tire products:
Michelin XZE
Bridgestone R260F
Yokohama RY567 /RY023
Continental HSR2

Was I looking in the wrong place by chance?

Reminder, Always check the manufacture date on the tires before purchase.

You got the right place if you look up the Michlin site the XZE and ZRV are interchangable--they both have the same load rating as does the M154 Toyo.
