New Shocks - do I need an alignment?
It is time for new shocks on my Country Coach 06 Allure (with tag).
We had new tires and an alignment 2 years ago.....do I need an alignment after the new shocks? (I am told the rear axles do not move so it would only be the front axle.)

Shock absorbers do not support weight or affect the alignment. How are the tires wearing? That should be your indicator.

Do the new tires show signs of wear, after 2 years. Cupping means shocks are needed. uneven wear, inner or outer edges, means alignment. Tire pressure can also contribute to uneven wear. Putting on new shocks should not change the present alignment. I would monitor the tire wear after new shocks are installed, that will then tell you if an alignment is necessary.

For a shock replacement, you do not need another alignment unless you have hit a curb or other stationary object really, really hard.

No alignment is needed unless the tires are not wearing properly.

Why new shocks? How did you determine they were needed.
I am still running the original Koni adjustables at 91,000 miles and 18 years with no issues.
Am I missing something here?

Don't get any further technical advice from whomever told you that! It's a bunch of bull puckey. Unless somebody stole the air bags from your rear suspension and welded the axle to the frame, the rear axles move plenty!

I was not clear...the rear axles do not get alligned....yes they move.
