I must confess, Georgetown recommends to put jacks down first, then slides out. DW had to straighten me out on that as that usually is her inside task as I tend to the outside stuff during set-up.

On our 38', 3 slide Allegro Bus, the owners manual was very clear to ALWAYS level with the jacks before extending any slides. Our Bus was on a Freightliner chassis with HWH jacks.
I'm not sure what your coach manufacturer recommends but I would certainly always follow their guidelines.

My Safari Simba, Workhorse gaser owner manual states: The motorhome must be supported by spring suspension (jacks retracted) whether extending or retracting any slide room. DO NOT operate the slide out room when supported by hydraulic jacks. damage to the slide out room, michanism or seals can occur.

This was suprising to me when I first read it. I always thought it made sense to level it first. I still not sure of the reasoning for this.

We did pick up the motorhome today and I read the owners manual and it says to level the motorhome first.

Actually, I was very much surprised by that, too. The only thought I have there is that they want the frame of the chassis to be in its normally "deformed" shape due to sagging of the structure. That way, the adjustments to the fitup of the slide mechanism are consistant with the "as-built" configuration. If you support it on the jacks, those fits may be different.

Just a thought...............

My thoughts on that are that the tech writer doesn't even own a motorhome, much less has set foot in one and actually knows what leveling jacks are.
