Question New to RVing...Question..

Been looking at RV’s for years...my wife has MS and before she gets confined to a wheelchair...we are touring this fine country!!!

I bought a 2017 American Dream 45A and picking her up Monday. We are flying into Nebraska and driving it back to Maryland. Stopping at the American Coach factory Tuesday for them to look over the coach.

My question is the coach is winterized and I want to make sure we can use the aqua hot to heat the coach on our way home. I know we can’t use the water because we will hit 20 degree nights driving home.

Thanks!!!

Rob

The aqua hot will work to heat the coach jyst fine. I would not be afraid to fill the wster ank and unwinterize the coach. We use ours that way.

Another vote to de-winterize before heading home, assuming home is a warmer state, you will be fine at 20 degrees F, in a functional class A coach, which I assume has enclosed basement tanks, with a heated or partially heated basement space. If you were talking about -20F that is a different matter.

There are two parts to the Aqua Hot, a boiler than has boiler fluid in it and that fluid gets circulated to bring heat to outlets and a heat exchanger for the hot water supply. The fresh water supply gets winterized and that includes the part that passes though the heat exchange, but the Aqua Hot boiler itself does not. To be more accurate, the Aqua Hot boiler is always winterized - it has an antifreeze component as part of the boiler fluid. The net of that is you can use the Aqua Hot for heating even if the fresh water system is winterized.

I'd use the fresh water system as well while traveling. Should be no worries as long as you are keeping the coach heated for your comfort. Then re-winterize when you get back home if needed.
