I am running a 2003 Winnebago. Handles and tracks great. I keep shocks, bushings and the rest of the suspension up to spec. Tires always properly inflated and load balanced. As for power I have no problem keeping up to speed except on the steepest grades. A pusher will have better torque and if properly maintained handle well. We went with gas as we are seldom in the mountains of the west. This side of the Mississippi it does well and costs less to maintain than a diesel. When we start doing the west more we will address the change to a pusher. As for handling it is all about the chassis, suspension, tires and maintenance be it gas or diesel. That said most diesels are on a heavier chassis due to their increased weight.
