Our A/C units are also black. They coordinate with the awning covers.
This photo was taken before the rig got out of the paint shop.

Dunlapml, we are all glad you and your family are OK. For those who don't know Ringgold, which is in the far NW corner of Georgia, was pretty well devastated by the tornados but is staying off the national news for some reason. I have raced at the drag strip there on many occasions. I really feel for all those people that have lost everything down here in the Deep South. I am lucky because I have a basement but looking at TV it appears a lot of those houses that were destroyed had slabs and if a mobil home then nothing. Where would you go for cover if you didn't have a basement?

JMonroe that's a GORGEOUS rig, however I think the black items would look better if they were white like the awning arms.

I have a dark and light brown paint scheme so the dark accessories on the roof are a necessity. I got smoke maxxair II's also which was the best solution to match the rest of the roof accessories and still keep with the color program.
I am thinking that foil tape on the top of the A/C covers might work well in stopping some heat absorption from the suns rays and keep the A/C components a shade cooler .
I park under trees if at all possible anyway and very rarely go to places that are that hot.. I don't do well in heat and humidity.

Actually, the awning arms are black. They're masked off in this photo.
If the choice is all white, or all black, I'd have chosen the black. If I'd spent another $100k or so, everything would have been painted to match the coach.
Was your avitar photo taken on your Lake Murray property? We own an RV lot not far from there (on Lake Greenwood). Our almost record snowfall this year was depressing enough, but for you to get that much snow! Al Gore, go suck eggs!!

Dateline had a one hour program last night that was mostly about Ringgold

JMonroe, yes thats at Lake Murray and not far from Lake Greenwood. Now I see, I thought the white awning arms looked strange. All black or white is the way to go. Very nice coach.

I would think that applying paint to an aluminum condenser would mean that the heat would have to pass through the aluminum (a great heat conductor) and then the paint (a not so great heat conductor). Painting an aluminum condenser would only make it more efficient.
As far as I know, a radiator is made out of something that rusts, hence the paint. Black paint equally matches (or doesn't match any exterior color) and doesn't interfere with the 'look' of the grille.
I had never heard that black paint radiates heat better than other colors.

our roof appendages are painted to compliment the sides colors
the a/c covers are the same as one of the many colors in the paint scheme which is a soft beige color
the max air covers are the red/maroon
and the fridge vent is the beige
they don't stand out

The myth that black is much hotter than white will live on, but I digress, (be a good one for mythbusters)
Radiators used to be made of copper, but most nowdays are aluminum or plastic.

Michael, the color black will radiate heat faster as long as the ambient temperature of the surrounding air is cooler that the object painted black. If the ambient air temperature becomes hotter that the painted object the the painted object will absorb heat.
Because the color black will help radiate heat most air cooled motors are painted flat black. You don't paint steam/hot water radiators black because they will burn people if they get against them. Car radiators were painted black long before you could look through a grill and see them. Pot belly stoves are painted black to help radiate heat.

Hey Mike,
Your rig is beautiful and mine is also, with roof accessories in black.
All accessories are vented and won't cause a heat build up problem and the additives in the materials prevent early deterioration.
I have never seen a black roof and can't believe there are any.
Black is beautiful,
Steve

Hey Guys,
In the matter of heat vs. black or white:
Black absorbs all color and heat but white reflects all color and
reflective heat
Black is hot, white is not.... so let's stop this misinformation.

Nuff said?
