New windshield cracked ???

Replaced right side windshield Oct 15 and let motorhome set till Oct 17.
Left for Tenn. on the 17th cleaned windshield on Oct 18th, found the new windshield cracked on the inside but not on the outside. There was just a little rust on the metal frame the installer removed rust and sealed metal with primer.
Safelight RV installed the windshield I sent them pic's they say it's a stress crack. I don't think something hit the windshield because it's not cracked on the outside. Anyone have any suggestions?

Just a thought, was the windshield replaced through your insurance? If so, don't bother dealing directly with Safelight RV, just call your insurance company and ask them how long a PROPER repair is supposed to last?

Generally "stress cracks" are caused by a protuberance in the window channel, or the window being too firmly glued in by the installer, or from going over a curb, or possibly jacking the RV incorrectly. If there was a problem with the window channel, then the installer should have caught it.

I would go physically to a Safelight RV location, preferably the one that did the install (may not be possible if you are on the road already) and ask them face to face to correct the problem.

P.S. Why was the original windshield replaced? Chips/dings? Or a crack in the same place as the new one? If it was a crack in the same place, then you may have a frame out of shape problem or front cap settling problem, possibly caused by broken front cap supports etc.

Good luck in getting resolution, and please keep us informed of your progress!

Stress damage is not by impact so crack can be anywhere.

If frame twists is can bend the glass and cause this.

No clue to variables here as one would assume some give in the interface between glass and frame.

Any leveling or other frame twisting events since?

Was it parked flat when changed?

Maybe seek out owners of same unit or second opinion regarding your installation.

cracked windshield.

It has always been the understanding that if you leave with a uncracked windshield and sometime after installation it cracks that you own it.
