New Windshield Pricing

I needed a new driver's side windshield for my Winnebago Journey. I browsed the internet, got a best price of $849 for the glass, plus shipping, plus installation. Well, I never give up. I kept calling glass companies, most wanted over $1,000 installed, but my deductible is $1,000 plus the fact that I didn't want another claim on my policy, so after explaining that i would be paying cash, I got a local dealer to order the glass, AND install it for $550. Deals are out there, you just gotta keep looking.

Welcome to irv2 and thanks for the report. Good to hear that cash still has power.

What a shame that we pay for insurance to take care of these accidents and then be affraid to file a claim and have the insurance thiefs raise or cancel our policy !

Glass should be a no-fault claim. Mine is and there is no deductible.

Some States handle it differently. Fl is a no deductible / no fault State as well.

Do you know why it broke? Was it an impact (stone) or something else. You may want to have the installed check the windshield frame while the glass is out.

Original crack had something to do with a small rock, a riding lawn mower, and the wife. NUff said. Crack expanded until it looked like I had a "heads up display" road map. Tried to stop the crack run but no luck. I inspected the frame after glass was out, had the beginnings of a little rust problem, but sanded down and treated before glass was installed. I understand that is a problem on this line of coach.

Had mine (two piece) replaced a year ago. Had a crack in each side due to rock chips. Glass shop tried to stop them but over the winter while in storage, they grew all the way across. My insurance company approved my claim and my cost was the $250 deductible. Cost to the insurance co was $3800. Thank goodness for glass insurance. No fault on my policy.
So, the glass shop calls and says my coach is ready but there is a slight problem. While backing out of the shop, the young fellow backed into a concrete pillar and crunched the LR corner and Ladder. Damage cost $7800.
So, in the end, I had the whole rear cap re-done, new ladder, new windshields all for $250.
