newbie water heater ?

I tried to fire up the water heater for the DW but no luck. I have some confusion on how to start the water heater in my @002 Dutch Star in the the coach at the control panel is a reguar style brown light switch with red light that says water heater, then below that is a white switch that says water heater with a red light and the word reset below the light, then outside the coach at the water heater is yet another on/off switch. I switch all switches to on and no flame the ignitor sparks but no ignition any help is appreciated the DW would like a hot shower !!!

My guess is you have a water heater that works on electric or propane.

The toggle type switch with light is probably the electric this will stay on all the time the switch is on >>> even if you are not hooked to electric.,

The other switch on the inside is for propane, it will come on when the propane is heating the water, off when it is not. If you turn it on you
should be able to go outside and feel the heat coming out of the heat exchange.

The switch on the outside is to disable the electric, I believe this is for when you drain the water heater, you do not the element heating up.

Hope this helps.

Pretty much as described above. From what I read in your post, it sounds like you are having trouble getting the gas to light off. Three things to look at. First, be sure the propane valve at the tank on. Secondly, there may be air in the line that will take some time to bleed out. Thirdly, it is very possible that spiders or other insects have clogged up the gas orifice at the HWH. You can take the orifice out and clean it. As for the electric part, it will heat the water but much slower than the gas. Also for the electric to work, you have to have the master switch turned on at the tank. Its a rocker switch on mine. Hope this helps.

You can likely find the service manual for your water heater here:
