Ok.....trying to decide.....Looking at both above units. My wife likes a lot of the features and look of the 32SA, but my concern is that I see more negative comments on the Tiffin forums than I do the Newmar forums.......is it my imagination or does Newmar have a better "out of the box" reputation than Tilffin...? I seem to see a lot of long term stays at Red Bay which raises a red flag to me. I like the Tiffin, but I do like the 16" OC wall contruction of the Newmar..... I figured I would go right to the actual Tiffin owners forum for some input and insight into their experiences with Tiffin and their coaches. (FYI...all the threads on Tiffin problems scare me a bit; it appears that Newmar has less issues "out of the box"...........True or not?..............Thanks

Most of the Tiffin issues you read about didn't affect the gas units.

I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

We would not trade our Tiffin for a Newmar. More than happy with our choice and you only hear the few bad things from the minority of owners. Personnally don't like the decors Newmar uses on their gas coaches.

We have been extremely pleased with our 31SA, which is our first RV. Ordered it in Dec, picked it up in March. 70 nights on the road so far, and 5000 miles, and 2 more trips that will be a combined 6 weeks and 2000 miles or so this year.

Locking down our 2016 plans now, indludng a 3 month summer trip west (MT, Yellowtone. CO, etc.), and month long trips in the spring to the beach, and then another one in the fall........

Just got it back from our dealer (bought local) getting a first chassis service completed, and address a handful of minor warranty issues that were not urgent obviously. Fixed a couple little things myself as well along the way.

I've never owned a Newmar, so don't know much about them, and had that choice also when looking at RVs. We chose the Tiffin as well. So far, so good. 10 mpg is nice too. We preferred the L couch and large living area.

Either way, both good companies. You just have to choose what works best for your needs at this point.

As full timers, we've enjoyed our Tiffin for the past 3 years. Tiffin has stood behind every problem we have had. I don't have any Newmar experience.

I think you answered your own question. Tiffin and Newmar both build solid RVs. Get the one that suits you best and have fun.

If you haven't physically looked at both coaches, I would try to look at both. I just looked at Newmar website and didn't see much difference in the Newmar Bay Star and the Tiffin Allegro. The only gas chassis available now for any MH is the Ford F53, so all mfg use the same one. I also looked a Newmar owners forum here and saw similar questions I'm seeing on Tiffin forum. My wife found our Tiffin used, while we were in Florida a couple of years ago. Something will need to be repaired on any RV from time to time and they all use most of the same part companies for example Lippert makes most of the slide out parts. I just had to have the motor for my steps replaced and if the RV tech hadn't keep looking in his misc. parts to find a motor I would have had to wait 2 weeks for Lippert to make one, because it wasn't something they were stocking. Don't be in a hurry on buying any RV. Dave

Not sure Newmar has fewer problems then Tiffin, that could just be a sampling error. Newmar builds aproximatelly 1/3 the units that Tiffin does on an annual basis.

Both companies are top in customer service, however.

We were in the same situation as you. It was down to these exact two models. Ended up ordering the 32sa because of a few differences we liked more on the Tiffin.

Did you check out the Tiffin RV Network for owners of Tiffin motor homes. As a non-owner, you can join it. Great support like iRV2.com but ALL Tiffin Owners.

Check into what options you can get on the Bay Star vs the Allegro. I don't believe you can have a residential frig in the Bay Star. There are other options also not available on the Bay Star (at least there was last year). But mainly look for what floor plan you want.

Take it from a former Tiffin owner...Tiffin has no quality control. There is no comparison to the two companies product. Never owned a Newmar, however, I am sure Newmar builds a much better product. As you have noticed on the two forums, there are a lot more people at the Tiffin SC with problems than at Newmar. There is a reason for this. Compare the fit and finish in each unit. Open the dash and look at the wiring.

Good luck with your purchase.

Newmar vs. Tiffin

We ordered a Tiffin 36LA in 2014. Have had a lot of problems related to QC build and continue to address them.
My recommendation is to find a manufacture where you are near to factory service so if you need work done(that dealers can't do) you can go where they really know the your specific unit. For us the dealer has done more damage than repair.
Newmar,Fleetwood and more is in Indiana. Tiffin is in Red Bay Alabama. Complicated repair seems to be best done at the Factory. Red Bay seems to be packed most of the time and they don't take appointments. I know for sure Fleetwood does, not sure of Newmar. If there is a chronic problem you most likely will need to go to the factory.
