Nice little surprise found in the coach today...

Was cleaning and sweeping out the coach after the Florida trip and also inspecting the brake peddle for some kind of switch that may be the cause of my tail lights/cruise not working when braking.

What did I find but a full set of coach keys for every lock system. Nice little surprise.

As for the brake lights/cruise not working, my Cummins mechanic says it actually may be the air brake release button that's pressed when shifting to drive. Interesting.

Any comments?

If your coach is diesel and on a Freightliner chassis, your brake switches (2) will be on the bottom side of the brake treadle. To see them, you have to be under the coach. Several folks have had corrosion/ dirt on the terminals causing the cruise control to be inop. I've just had one of the switches fail in the on position, making the cruise inop but the brake lights were on also.

I don't know what the mechanic is referencing about air brake release button, unless it's the big yellow knob (parking brake release) and I don't think it has anything to do with the cruise control.

If all else fails, call the Freightliner help desk.

Yeah, my mechanic said that switches on the brake peddle are not used too much anymore and the yellow brake release button is somehow incorporated into the system and could cause the inop brake lights/cruise.

He used to own a Cummins repair facility. I hope I have not misinterpreted what he told my brother in law on the cellie. But, I think that was the gyst of it.

He will not be able to sort this out right now, as the ground is so soft/wet/muddy. This is going to be addressed in about a month.

I'll make sure to update this post for clarity and good information.

I'm going to work this guy like a rented mule at $30 an hour. He's a great guy and has not missed a beat on any of the work he's done so far.

I'll bet that he will put at least 40 hours into my coach this season. I've got a nice list of need to fix and proactive maintenance items to keep him busy all summer.

I should really have this Endeavor sorted out by then. I love to tinker and I've got my own work cut out for the things I can do, starting with a full redo of all roof penetrations and the main roof seam and cap seams. It's all getting new this summer.
