No heat

Yesterday I moved our Cummins diesel pusher about 40 miles. The engine temp gauge raised up maybe about 1/8 inch. The outside air was about 37. The coolant level is fine. I had virtually no heat coming from the engine to heat the motor home up. On days when the temp is above 50 the gauge reads in the normal range. Is this a common issue on diesels? Next time I am going to fire up the furnace.

It sounds like it could be your engine cooling system thermostat stuck in the open position and not allowing the engine to heat up properly. Time for a new thermostat.
