No start issue

I own a 2000 Fleetwood Discovery diesel pusher that occasionally will not start when I turn the key on. When I turn the key back to off and then try starting again it will fire up. I just had it to a truck dealer and they checked out the wiring , batteries, and starter but can’t find anything. Anyone have any ideas or has seen this in the past? Wondering if there could be sensor or switch somewhere that isn’t quite operating properly? Do the jacks have an “up” sensor that wouldn’t allow someone from driving off with the jacks down that would prevent the coach from starting?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

There are interlocks that prevent starting in gear, there might be one to prevent starting with the jacks down. There also usually is a relay that handles the actual electrical power when the key is switched on so all the amperage doesn't flow through the ignition switch. This relay triggers the steps, jacks, slides, and other items unique to an RV. All of these things should be checked and perhaps a truck garage wasn't knowledgeable about the complexity of an RV ignition system.

Could be failing key switch, or starter solenoid.

Probably the easiest thing to do to troubleshoot with an intermittent problem, is to hook up a wire on to the primary wire of the starter solenoid, and wire it back into the coach by the driver, and hook it up to a voltmeter.

Next time it fails check the voltage. If no voltage, then you know the problem is between the keyswitch and the starter solenoid.

If voltage detected, then you know the starter solenoid isn't engaging, and you can replace the starter/solenoid.

No start issue

Might be failing key switch. Might try bumping / hitting the key while over in the -start- postion.

Good luck

Welcome to iRV2.

Sorry you're here with problems ?

Is your coach built on a Freightliner chassis ?
I've replaced two starter relays on my 99 F/L .
Another issue can be in the stater solenoid its self , if your coach has a Denso starter , contacts inside the solenoid can burn and give poor erratic contact .
Denso starter can be identified , by the cover plate on the solenoid ( shaped like home plate and secured with three small bolts ) inside contacts may look like the photo below. Replacement contacts are available .

BTW. Always best to add info on your chassis manufacturer and engine when asking questions here in the forums , or fill out a " signature line " and they automatically appear below your posts , as mine does below this one.
