We recently stayed in a place where we had to raise the front wheels off the ground by about 4-5 inches ( placed blocks under jack pads). When we let the RV down off the jacks, there was a lot of shuttering noise and as we were backing out we heard a loud "oil canning" popping noise. We have driven it about 1600 miles and the noise has not left. We have had the front end checked-- no busing problems. We have been through the basement storage areas with a fine tooth comb- nothing. We did not have the problem until we had to level it using blocks. Any help would be appreciated.

Since no one else has answered I will throw in my 2 cents worth. Parking with the front wheels hanging is a no no as far as I am concerned. That being said I would be looking at the front shocks. In order to check them you may have to pull them out or maybe you can just disconnect one end. You said you had the bushings checked but also look at the shock mounts themselves.

Oil canning noise sounds like it might be the firewall flexing. I read on this forum (I think) someone having a problem where a rivot or two had popped loose and allowed the sheet metal of the fire wall to flex, making that sound. Just a stab. Hope you find it.

We are getting that checked today. Thank you for your help. Some think it may have broken a weld on the floor plate. Thanks again.
