Question Norcold Fridge, cold in freezer but only refrigerator only cools to 50-55 degrees

I'm new and Im sure this has been beat to death, but freezer cools to about 10 degrees, but fridge only cools to about 50 or so? just got it back from a service center who replaced the thermistor on the fins , reset the fault codes, and verified cooling fans are operational . this is either on a/c or LP. THoughts?

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Noticed you are kinda new on IRV2 and wanted to say hello!

Actually, your freezer and fridge are about 10 degrees too warm. The freezer should be around "0" degrees and the fridge 38-40 degrees. Is it about the same whether on AC or LPG?

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

How long has it been turned on? Give it 24-hours, DO NOT open it for any reason during that time. It takes a long time for the fridge to recover the lost cooling once the door is opened for any reason.
If you want to monitor the inside temperature, get a remote thermometer and place the sending unit inside the refrigerator. You will be able to tell what the temperature inside is doing on the thermometer master. I have two, one for the freezer and one for the refrigerator.
This type of refrigerator is very slow to respond, especially during the summer.

yeah heat source doesn't make a difference. just got my rv back from a service center who only replaced the sensor on the fins in fridge compartment and cleared codes. claimed fans on the back are operational and the unit was cooling fine there .

I just installed one of these:
https://rvcoolingunit.com/Norcold-4-...-P5819508.aspx
It blows across the evap fins inside the fridge and supposedly spreads the cool better. I haven't tried it yet, but I heard good things.

Google Walmart and ask for remote outside thermometers. There are several on the first page that I found. About $15-25. Most stores will carry them also, so you do not have to wait for shipping.
The sending unit is about 5" long and about 1-1/2" wide, the base unit has the display.

I use this one. Found it to be very effective in moving air around to promote better cooling and prevent frost & ice build up. Requires 2 D batteries though.

I have a unit similar to that unit, different manufacturer, we have been using it over a year with very reliable results and consistent temperatures. That system of spreading the cool just works. But, the doors have to remain closed for the cooling unit to keep things cool. Standing in front of the fridge with both doors open while having a dress rehearsal is not going to work. Get in, the fridge, and get out.

Moving the thermistor around as suggested in video works on Fridges that have NO Temp Adjustments on upper control panel...they use an Auto Temp Control

Fridges that have temp setting adjustments 1-5 or 1-9 use a thermostat that has been calibrated for temp range between 34*F & 42*F based on OEM location of thermistor be it far right like Dometic or 10th fin from right like Norcold of even far left like some models.

If thermistor is functioning properly the OEM position is where it should be located

Initial cool down of an absorption fridge takes 12+ hrs

Freezer has to get down to 10*F before food compartment can effectively cool down
Freezer evap coil is 1st in the process so until cold not enough absorption capability left to cool food compartment

SO how long have you been running fridge??

What MODEL is it????

I was wondering I have the Norcold unit with four doors that have beautiful woodwork that matches the interior of the motorhome. It gets cold but not really pleased with the performance, takes a long time to cool down. I'm really not looking to replace it with a residential fridge. Has anybody had experience with the company in Indiana that replaces the cooling unit with a residential style compressor?
