Thank You All so much! Is there a heavy duty cooling unit brand that you would recommend ? Jim

Everyone has their own requirements, when our Ref went out I looked at all of the options and decided to go with a residential and have been very pleased. Ice cream is hard, maintains temp much better. We do not dry camp so the decision was easy. I installed an inverter and other components much cheaper than a new rv frig.

Looks like I've got a lot of learning to do and thanks for the recommendation. Jim

I have to say if I was faced with your issue, I'd go with a new residential unit, if I could find one I like that fits the coach. Due to space limitations, sometimes its hard to get a residential unit in that you like.

My second choice would be to replace the cooling unit if the cabinet, doors and racks are in good condition. You are going to have to pull the unit out regardless of which way you decide to go, so might as well just recondition the unit.

Absolute last choice would be a complete new absorption refrigerator. That's big $$.
