Is there a way to override the defrost function???

I noticed last week that it had come on several times even though there was not a large amount of frost. By shutting the refer off every morning stop the defrost from coming on?? What triggers it?? This is something I will try if it does work and maybe only let it defrost a couple times a week.

If you are going to dump a bunch of money on an amish unit (which is good I hear), consider a residential conversion.

You might be perfectly satisfied with a residential refrigerator but not everyone would be, (especially boondockers).
Different strokes for different folks.

Check norcold web site. There are recalls on the 1200 Norcold. They will need the serial #

norcolds latest recall is to inspect your refer, check if it has had all the recalls, and declare that the flashing is at fault.
you ask, how do you change it? they reply that they dont know.
you then ask, why do you know the problem, but not the solution?
they reply that their engineers have done test and found out that that is the problem.
you call norcold and ask for a diagram of the correct method of flashing.
the engineer says he doesnt have a diagram.
you ask who does? he replies he doesnt know.
ive been thru this scenerio many times. i put in an amish unit. i used the old circuit board, and eyebrow board.
it worked for two years. the norcold control board failed.
i replaced it and the thermister. and yes, there are two thermisters. i bought one using the serial number. the control board was from dinosaur.
it then worked marginal. i contacted pine refrigeration. they were very helpful.
it cools ok now, but now have to replace the fans with stronger ones. i hope this
fixes it you dont need a hobby if you own a rv.

We have had a similar problem with the fridge and found a very simple solution. There is a drain hose coming out the back of the fridge, which ends sitting in a water collection dish near the bottom outside of the fridge. The end of this hose had become clogged with dirt from the collection dish and when I unplugged it a stream of water shot out, and the tray inside the fridge which was full of water and partly frozen was then able to drain. Shortly afterwards the fridge began operating properly again.
Hope this helps.

Last week we had the Samsung RF18 installed in our 2005 Mountain Aire. To install, the RV Tech lowered the floor the Norcold sat on and removed the top trim piece. Our Hydra Hot vent is also located under the fridge. Have not decided if we will hook the fridge up to our current inverter or not.

Did you add a fan in the refrigerator or in the outside roof vent?

I added the one listed above from ebay but he has a web store also, inside the fridge, was keeping temp set on 9 as fridge is always over stuffed so air can't convect. Now set it on 5 on my milk in bottom shelf is nice and COLD. $20 well spent, how long they last we will see. Also quiet can barley hear them with door closed.
