North Carolina rv inspection

we just purchased a new gas motorhome and are bringing it into North Carolina for registration. Can we take it to any Ford dealer for the inspection before registration or does it have to go to a Motorhome dealer? it's on a Ford F 53 chassis. Does it actually need inspected like a car? Thanks!

We have ours inspected at the same small inspection station that inspects our cars...I just sit in coach and the guy inspecting just stands outside and says "left turn signal" - "right turn signal" etc.. Easy to do.

Yes, I needs to be inspected in order to get your registration. I take our MH to Camping World for the state inspection. That's the only thing I will let them do, but for this they fill the bill.

NO you don't have to take it to a RV Dealer Any Truck or car Repair or inspection station can do it if they want too. Any truck dealer or car or Ford, chevy or any dealer.

Thanks for all the quick replies! We are almost home with it and have an inspection station / auto place really close to us so that will be a lot more convenient then an rv dealer.

No first inspection

No inspection on new coach, just pay the fees, mine were $1400. The second year it will be inspected and pay the taxes, helps the keep the state running.
We all need to remember if we want to play we need to pay, it is good for the soul.

Thanks for the information on the new coach. This is a 2015 new coach we are bringing home from California. So I guess we can just register it and then inspect next year. That will save some time and effort.
