Oil analysis lab recommendations , please

Hi Folks,

Still in the search for our first DP. In addition to a 3rd party inspection, I want the engine oil analyzed. Probably should include the trans fluid, also.

How best to go about this as my priority would be turn-around time from the lab? Any recommendations as to procedure and which lab(s) to consider.

Thanks much.

P.S. I tried the "Search" function, but I had no luck (probably "operator error")

Blackstone is good. I also like JG Lubricants. Even more so on the Allison.
I have used both.

Here is the JG Lube Services link:

Tom Johnson is the Allison fluids engineer who wrote the Allison fluid spec (TES295). Tom authors a thread on the Allison forum. He will look at your report & give you personal attention.

Order a Lemon Aide test kit from Blackstone. Includes a pump to pull a sample from the dip stick tube, sample bottle, return mailer and expiated processing of the sample for $100.

If you're not in a hurry the pump is $35 and the sample kits are free. First class postage is less than $5 and turn around is usually a couple of days. Standard report is $28 and they will email you a PDF of what they find.

Lab

I have used JG Lubricants and gotten great results. A plus is that if you call their phone # , the owner of company will answer and will answer all your questions and the owner worked for Allison for over 20 years and he is a wealth of knowledge on Allison transmissions.
